I LOVE YOU BABY BEAR
2019 / 15 minutes / Film + installation at: Bureau Europa / Marres
Collaboration with: Mike Moonen
Marres House of Contemporary Culture approached Mike Moonen and Michiel Ubels to create a project during carnival. There was a clear division of roles: Mike did all the partying and Michiel edited the rather random footage into a tragic fairy tale:
Black Sheep and Baby Bear have been best friends all their lives. They share everything with each other and they never have a fight. Unfortunately their friendship is put to the test when Baby Bear is chosen to lead a miraculous spiritual journey. Together with a group of white dressed pilgrims with black painted teeth, Black Sheep and Baby Bear drag a gigantic white beast through the city to bring a bittersweet ode to youthfulness and revolt against the elderly.
